TAK Server ADS-B Plugin
The ADS-B TAK Server Injector delivers real-time aircraft situational awareness for your TAK environment — civilian and military tracks, injected as CoT messages directly from the airplanes.live ADS-B network.
Install on any TAK Server 5.x. Set your coverage area in one YAML file. Restart. Aircraft icons appear in ATAK, WinTAK, and iTAK within seconds — no additional client configuration required.

FAQ
Common questions.
What TAK Server versions are supported?
The ADS-B TAK Server Injector supports TAK Server 5.4, 5.5, and 5.6. A pre-built self-extracting installer is available for each version on the GitHub Releases page.
Does it work with WinTAK and iTAK, or just ATAK?
All TAK clients receive the air picture — ATAK, WinTAK, and iTAK. The injector pushes standard CoT messages directly to TAK Server, so every connected client sees aircraft icons automatically with no additional client configuration.
Does my TAK Server need an internet connection?
Yes. The injector pulls live ADS-B data from the airplanes.live API, so the TAK Server host needs outbound HTTPS access. HTTP/HTTPS proxy support is included for environments that route traffic through a proxy.
How often does the aircraft data refresh?
The polling interval is configurable in the YAML config file. Set it based on your bandwidth and operational needs. The airplanes.live feed itself updates continuously.
Can I show only military tracks, or filter by aircraft type?
Civilian and military tracks are injected as distinct CoT types. Filtering and track type configuration is handled in the YAML config file — no code changes required.
What is the maximum coverage radius?
Up to 250 nautical miles from your configured center coordinates. Set your center lat/lon and radius in the YAML config file.
Do I need to configure anything on the ATAK client?
No. The injector runs server-side and pushes CoT messages through TAK Server to all connected clients. Aircraft icons appear in ATAK, WinTAK, and iTAK as soon as the injector is running — no client data packages or plugin installation required.
Is this approved for operational or mission use?
The ADS-B TAK Server Injector is intended for non-commercial, research, and demonstration use per the airplanes.live terms of service. It is not designed or approved for safety-of-life applications. For operational requirements, contact ACS to discuss your needs.
Our Philosophy
Why do we give this away?
The TAK ecosystem runs on contributions from its community. We built this plugin because we needed it ourselves — and we saw no reason not to share it. Good tools make better operators. Better operators make safer missions.
