GOTS TAK Server systemd start scripts

The latest release of the GOTS TAK Server, version 5.1, retains legacy init.d scripts. Starting from version 5.0, the startup scripts were modularized into individual services, which alleviates server overload during startup.

In earlier iterations of the GOTS TAK Server, the startup process relied on a monolithic script that initiated all services simultaneously. This approach posed challenges by overwhelming CPUs as multiple TAK Server services competed for processing resources. Our team developed these scripts to mitigate such issues, enabling deployment on smaller virtual machines and EC2 instances.

Our newly introduced systemd scripts, accessible here, prioritize sequential service startup to reduce CPU load during initialization and align the scripts with current systemd standards. Extensive testing has been conducted on Amazon Linux 2023, CentOS 7, and RedHat 8 platforms to ensure compatibility and reliability.

Simplify deployment, enhance reliability, and optimize server performance. Explore how our innovative solutions empower efficient TAK Server administration for government, defense, and civilian sectors.

CNY Hackathon Spring 2019

Again, this semester Adeptus Cyber Solutions, LLC (ACS) supported the local CNY Hackathon at Utica College. Principal Engineer and Member, Timothy Reed, stepped in at the last minute to speak to students on results from penetration tests he worked on and why you should dig in to the code and the system.

Members of ACS were also an integral part of the Red Team this semester.

The Utica OD interviewed Timothy Reed to get his perspective as a sponsor of the event.

Adeptus sponsors local hackathon

Adeptus Cyber Solutions, LLC (ACS) has excited to be a sponsor of the 2018-2019 CNY Hackathon.  The CNY Hackathon is a regional intercollegiate offensive/defensive cybersecurity competition held each fall and spring at local colleges in the Utica/Rome area.  Students participate in challenges that task each team with penetrating a target to take control (Red Team) or defending their systems from attackers in order to maintain control (Blue Team).

ACS wishes all of the participating teams good luck and we will be present for the competition and recruiting event.

UTM NASA Acceptance Testing

Adeptus Cyber Solutions (ACS) has teamed with Unmanned Experts (UMEX) to build a Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) management application to support the UAS Traffic Management (UTM) program sponsored by NASA. Our system, which includes a quad-copter and the software to manage the flight plans, was thoroughly tested during the shakedown tests the week of October 3 – 5 in Reno, NV by NASA. These tests included planning an operation, flying the planned operation, coordinating with other aircraft that were flying and more. Our system meet all of the challenges that NASA had developed for the testing.

The video is a view of our UAS management application as it tracks a live flight during the testing.
